Subclass 191 Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional):

To meet the requirements of the permanent visa (from November 2022) applicants should have a regional provisional visa subclass 491 or 494 visas while applying for the Subclass 191 visa. they should have the same visa for at least 3 years. One should have earned the minimum wages as the holder of a regional provisional visa that too for at least three years above then that they must have complied with the mandatory conditions of the regional provisional visa.

 

The visa validity will be 5 years. Subclass191 holders can live and work in Australia can also include immediate families in the same visa.

They can study live and work only in regional areas (Regional areas include Perth, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Illawarra, Newcastle Lake Macquarie, Geelong, Wollongong, Hobart, Adelaide, and Canberra. And at the same time can sponsor family members too.

The Permanent Skilled Regional Visa (subclass 191) will leads to subclass 494 and 491 to convert in PR (Permanent Residency).

The latest update about Subclass 191 Visa is mentioned below:

  • The application will be open in 2022
  • Subclass 191 is valid for only five years.
  • Candidates with this visa can live, study and work
  • Aspired candidates must be inside Australia to apply in the same category.

What is the effect on current regional visas:

The current Visa migration scheme under Subclass-187 and subclass-489 is close for the new applicants. This is valid from November 16, 2019. Applications will be put in transitional arrangements which have been lodged and for those applications for which decision is awaiting.

It is also for those whose pathways are directed towards permanent skilled visa under subclass 887.

The skilled migration points test will change from November 16, 2019. These changes will affect subclass 491 applicants as well as applications for other skilled migration visas that have not been assessed yet

The new key points are mentioned below:

15 points will be granted for nomination by a State or Territory government agency or sponsorship by a family member residing in regional Australia, to live and work in regional Australia.10 points will be granted for a skilled spouse or de facto partner.5 points will be given for a spouse or de facto partner with competent English.

Above that 10 points can be given for qualifications like Science and Technology, Engineering and. In short, you can say STEM qualifications and 10 points for applicants without a spouse or de facto partner.

Please be noted that the ranking order for invitations will also change.

The new ranking order will be as follows:

  1. primary applicants with a skilled spouse or de facto partner.
    Equivalent to 1st: primary applicants without a spouse or de facto partner.
  2. Primary applicants with a spouse or de facto partner who can speak competent English, but does not have the skills for skilled partner points.
  3. Primary applicants with a partner who is ineligible for either competent English or Skilled partner points. These applicants will be ranked below in case all other points are equal.
